The Psychology of Winning

The Psychology of Winning

Denis Waitley

Quality 1:  Positive Self-Expectancy
"Life is a self fulfilling prophecy. True winners go into every event expecting to win."

To be a winner means to succeed at achieving your goals. You have to believe you can achieve it before you actually do it in order to feel empowerment.
Having these expectancy is one way to help psychologically motivate yourself because if you keep telling yourself that you can do it then you will put in even more effort to make that a reality. An example of this is when you are going to an interview to see if you get a dream job of yours. You have to self motivate yourself by telling yourself that you can do it and this positive self-expectancy will make you even more confident so the chances of you getting that job will increase. Psychologically motivating/tricking yourself is a really smart way to increase your chances of success. Only expect the best for yourself and you will only get the best.

Quality 2: Positive Self-Motivation

"True winners dig deep and find motivation inside themselves to get through that tough task or to learn a new skill."

This means that if you really want to succeed in a certain objective, you must look within your heart and really try and find motivation to rise to the challenge. This is what separates a true winner and loser. When you do this you will find that you will feel a huge urge of confidence in yourself to complete the task at hand. This is key in being successful.
Quality 3: Positive Self-Image
True winners are confident and view themselves as competent, valuable human beings.

You need to make a positive image of yourself so that people can view you in a good light. You need to treat yourself with respect so that other people can treat you with respect. If you are always a jerk, than people will view you in a negative way. When you have a positive self-image you give yourself a positive attitude which can make you a person whom others would want to associate with. You have to view yourself as perfect before others will. An example in which this quality would be useful in is when you or someone is running for a position in power such as presidency or governmental.

Quality 6: Positive Self-Discipline
You have to discipline yourself or else someone else will discipline you into doing what they want you to do. Total winners have the power to discipline and take control of their lives.

This is important in doing the right thing. You have to discipline yourself to be the best you can be. don't let other people take over your life and just be you. If they don't understand you that's on them.

Quality 7: Positive Self-Esteem
Your mood and outlook on life affect the way you see the world and how you interact in it. Total winners are positive, powerful people who make people feel good and provide a good vibe to those around him/her.

In order to be a winner in life, you have to look at things in a positive way.  When you have a positive self esteem it means that you are confident and you don't doubt yourself. An example in which self-esteem would be important is when you are presenting to a public audience. If you lack that self esteem, it will show and make your presentation appear unprofessional. Self-esteem is also important in job interviews. You are way more likely to be hired if you seem very confident

Quality 9: Positive Self-Awareness
Total winners are aware of their power. They understand that they can be anything with enough effort and determination.

You have to be self aware of your abilities. You have to work towards being successful

Quality 10: Positive Action
Total winners take positive action in their business and with their friends and family. They are uplifting and motivating individuals who inspire the best from themselves and other

If you want to become a total winner, you have to be a positive person. You have to treat others the way you want to be treated. This is not magically going to happen on it's own. That is why you have to take positive action. You need to have the drive within you and the motivation to find the light at the end of the tunnel. This is what total winners have in common and why they are so successful in life.

Reflection: These tips will help me become a better person. They will also help me become a more trustworthy person and as well as a better friend. right now, I am applying most of the tips in my daily life. i always try to say what's truthful at all times, even if it hurts. The only tip that I won't apply is talking to myself because that is just weird and creepy.
